Russ
began his career in the insurance field in 1971, becoming the
youngest General Agent in Mutual Benefit life history in 1975.
Early on, his focus was to identify and provide quality benefit
plan solutions to employers. His background in accounting gave
him a unique perspective that business owners appreciated.
In
1980, he formed Benefit Consultants, Inc. to fill a need for
benefit plan advice to small and mid-sized employers. In the
beginning, BCI provided insurance brokerage and Third Party
Administration services. The TPA services were spun off into
Benefit Systems, Inc. in 1982. A decade later, Russ sold Benefit
Systems, Inc. in order to concentrate and expand his efforts
with BCI. With his wife, Linda, he has guided BCI to offer clients
proactive plan design and compliance services.
Russ
has over 35 years of experience with insured and self-funded
welfare benefit plans and particularly enjoys challenging carriers
and TPA's on behalf of his clients. His vision and drive have
made BCI synonymous with client education and empowerment. If
he's not advocating for a client, he could be rooting for his
beloved Michigan State Spartans.
